What is the spartan warrior workout routine.
The Spartans were known as the toughest warriors around. Their fame has been revived by the movie "300" but they have been the top guns of conditioning long before they were discovered by Hollywood.
The Spartan ideal is built upon a few "s" words – spare, strong and stern. The Spartans were spare – they traveled light, keeping it lean and mean. The Spartans were strong – their whole lifestyle, from birth to death, was militaristic and designed to win. There was no other option. And the Spartans were stern – they didn't tolerate the soft life.
The Spartans didn't need big numbers or elaborate mechanisms to gain the upper hand. Their approach was “rigorously simple” and it was both strong and spare. And it wasn’t a walk in the park – the Spartans were quite stern in their approach to everything.
The Spartan ideal of total conditioning in a minimalist environment can be applied to training today. A training approach can be austere and still very effective. You don't need to spend a ton of money to get into top condition. And make no mistake; Spartan style training is very effective.
The Spartans didn’t have expensive weight gyms and modern training equipment, yet they were some of the fiercest warriors in history. The Spartan approach to training is truly Spartan – that is, lean and unencumbered.
One of the biggest secrets about getting in shape is that you don't need to spend a ton of money to build a lean and mean body. In fact focusing on the more expensive training elements often is a rabbit trail away from fitness. The more mechanisms and the more chrome, the less likely the machine is able to truly condition the body.
You can do the Spartan warrior workout with nothing more then you own bodyweight, using exercises such as push-ups, chin-ups, deep knee bends, etc.
Or you can put together a simple home gym very inexpensively, and have a great Spartan workout with only a barbell, a bench and some dumbbells or kettlebells.
